What to wear

We need to dress in a way that keeps us safe and is not seen as provocative by people in prison.  For example, scarves, necklaces, etc. could be grabbed by a prisoner and unsuitable footwear might risk us tripping on stairways.

There are some very long and high stairways within the prison (as you can see from this photo) and you may be surprised just how far you have to walk during your shift.  View of one of the long stairways in Main Street.

Volunteers are required to adhere to the same dress code as non-uniformed members of staff.

Expand the following control to view the current full dress code.  You can also choose to print or download the document from the top toolbar in the viewer.
