Peterborough prison

Here is some introductory information about the prison to give you a general overview.  Further information is available on the Sodexo HMP Peterborough website.  If you would like to see what it is like inside the prison, follow this link.

Please note that a No Smoking/No Vaping policy applies to all visitors to the establishment, which means that tobacco and vaping products must not be taken into the prison.  This includes FOPP volunteers.

The prison opened in 2005 as the first purpose-built establishment in the U.K. to hold both male and female offenders.  It was designed to house up to 868 males and 360 females.  There is also a special Mother & Baby unit with a capacity of 12 mums.  Both the male and female sides include a Separation & Care unit as well as a Healthcare unit.

The prison is located in the Westwood district of Peterborough:
