Getting here

Public Transport.

Train:     Peterborough railway station is close to the city centre.  If you don’t fancy walking, you can take a taxi from the station, or walk across to the bus station in the Queensgate shopping centre (there is a covered walkway to cross over the dual-carriageway road, Bourges Boulevard).

Walking:   It will take about 30 minutes to walk to the prison from the railway station.  Leave the station by turning left along the Bourges Boulevard dual carriageway.  Go past Waitrose and turn left at the roundabout into Mayors Walk.  Follow the road around the corner, over the railway until you have passed the traffic lights, then turn right into Priory Road.  Go all the way to the end of Priory Road to arrive at Westfield Road.  Cross over Westfield Road at the pedestrian crossing and then follow the footpath through the park to the prison.

Bus:    The bus station is in the Queensgate Shopping Centre, close to the railway station.  Take the Citi 3 service as far as the “West Town” stop, closest to the prison, then walk through the park opposite the bus stop to the prison (about 5 minutes).  Buses run approximately every 10-15 minutes throughout the day.

Coming by car.

All volunteers will use the Visitors car park, which is immediately in front of the prison and accessible from Saville Road.  Proceed north along Saville Road and turn right opposite the Freemans Transport company signboard, following the white car in the photo:

(Follow the white car)

then turn sharp right into the visitors car park just before the prison access road bends round to the right.
